Already from far you will be overwhelmed by the 100 year old Grandhotel in the center of High Tatras in Stary Smokovec. In the centre of High Tatras, in Stary Smokovec, with a background of massive Slavkovsky peak dominates the romance of past century - Grandhotel. The location of the hotel enables for the guests versatile possibilities of trips, walks and winter sports. Near to the hotel is the lower station of the ground cableway to Hrebienok (1236 m over the sea level) situated and the finish of ski and toboggan tracks. The hotel is situated 200 m from the railway station and 300 m from the parking lot of SAD (Slovak Bus Company) there are direct connections to farther distanced parts of our giant mountain.
Strbske Pleso belongs to the nicest places of High Tatras and provides universal services for visitors of this locality, i.e. running tracks, down hill slopes Interski and Solisko, for more daring visitors ski jumps and for children there is available a children’s park with trampoline, boats and toy cars.
Tatranska Lomnica - tatranská osada (settlement), from here you can ascend to the second highest peak of High Tatras - to Lomnický štít (Lomnický peak). In Tatranská Lomnica is located the TANAP (Tatra National Park) museum, the summer and winter toboggan track.

The greatest investment of the joint stock company controlled by the Spis Savings Bank and the Credit Bank in Levoca, was the construction of still impressive facility that is already well-known also abroad - Grandhotel in Stary Smokovec. The building designed in Bavarian style was put into operation in 1904. From the beginning was the hotel categorized as snobbish and prestige which could be visited only by the rich and socially strong society. With its luxury furnishing, provided services and comfortableness it belonged to the most visited hotels in the whole area of High Tatras.
In the years from 1929 to 1935 was put into operation the additional building of a typified restaurant in the left wing of Grandhotel - Taverna. After WW II pursuant to a decree on nationalization Grandhotel in Stary Smokovec went over to the administration of state enterprise Slovenská hotelová spoločnosť (Slovak Hotel Company). After the establishment of companies within the frame of the trust Čedok it became the property of company Interhotel Tatry. In 1989-1990 following the so called "velvet revolution" also the company went through various changes and in 1996 it became a property of share holding company Interhotely Kosice a.s. which has changed its name in the year 2005 to Interhouse Kosice, a.s. (www.ihk.sk). In the present time hotel Grand offers its services in standards of modern hotel category ***, when in past years it went through renovation and modernization of the accommodation part and sales centers.
