There are many good reasons for choosing the Neptun Hotel in the heart of downtown Bergen. At the Neptun, you can enjoy one of Bergen’s largest collections of modern art or an exquisite meal in our renowned Restaurant Lucullus or in our more informal bistro, Pascal Mat & Vin. Or you can relax in one of our comfortable hotel rooms and just enjoy the fact that you are in Bergen, City of Culture.
Even if you don’t plan on spending much time in your hotel room, it is important to us that you enjoy the time you do spend there. The Neptun Hotel has 124 rooms, 21 of which are suites. The rooms vary greatly in terms of shape and furnishings, but they are nearly all large and spacious with sumptuous bathtubs. One little curiosity is that all the rooms at the Neptun Hotel have names, so perhaps next time you stay with us you would like to stay at ”Fløyen”?
Suites The Neptun Hotel has 21 suites – all of which are spacious and tailored to the needs of those who wish to spend leisure time in their room or to work there. The suites have a sofa or armchairs and a desk, a separate bedroom section and elegant bathroom. For those with wedding plans, the hotel has a large wedding suite with a separate lounge and a Jacuzzi.
Theatre rooms The Neptun Hotel is one of the main sponsors of the theatre, Den Nationale Scene, in Bergen. In honour of the theatre, we have named a whole floor after actors who have performed at Den Nationale Scene or after plays that have been staged there. So perhaps the next time you stay with us you would like to stay in the ”Lothar Lindtner” or ”Helge Jordal” room?
Suites of Art What about spending the night in one of our "Suites of Art" decorated with artistic expressions by Inger Sitter, Dagfinn Knudsen, Kjell Nupen, Jacob Weidemann and Ferdinand Finne? Each and everyone of them has given their name to our "Suites of Art" at Neptun Hotel.
The restaurant hotel The Neptun Hotel has two excellent in-house restaurants. On the first floor is the gourmet restaurant Lucullus – famous for its classic French cuisine and excellent wine menu. If you really want to eat well when in Bergen, then Lucullus is the natural choice. It has a six-star rating in the national newspaper VG’s restaurant guide, and is proud to present its own top-quality dishes featuring salmon, cod and halibut. Pascal Mat & Vin is situated on the ground floor. It is a more informal, Continental-style bistro which both serves delicious lunches and has an exciting à la carte menu. It is also ideal if you just want to enjoy a glass of wine or a cappuccino. If you would like to take a look at our menus, click here. Start or finish the evening in the Ludvig Bar, the Neptun’s famous bar, which is named after the artist Ludvig Eikaas and is a Bergen nightlife institution.
Functions Welcome to a hotel and a functions department that has played a prominent part in the life of the city for more than 50 years. The functions department has two large and three smaller function rooms for up to 120 guests. It is the ideal place for everything from corporate functions to anniversaries, wedding receptions and Christmas parties. No two functions are identical, and we can organise functions in many different ways. Tell us what you would like or the purpose of the function and we will find a form and style that is ideally suited to your event.
Ludvig Bar The Ludvig Bar is a Bergen nightlife classic. The bar takes its name from and has devoted a lot of its wall space to the artist Ludvig Eikaas. The special atmosphere makes this the ideal place to enjoy a taste of "the good life". Enjoy an aperitif before your meal or an after-dinner coffee or cognac, or why not spend a whole evening in the bar with good friends or business associates?
Det Glade Bergen One of Bergen’s most unusual venues for functions is "Den Krohnske Vinkjeller", the old Krohn family wine cellar, better known as "Det Glade Bergen". The building’s history can be traced back to 1657, and this is reflected in the special ambience and mystical atmosphere... This elegant and distinctive venue is ideal for everything from small meetings and informal get-togethers to special occasions and formal dinners.
The Aquarium Bergen Aquarium is perhaps the best venue for functions in all of Bergen. There you can sit in the large Storsalen room admiring the view of the Nordnes Park and the city fjord while enjoying a meal of the finest quality. In the Rotunden room, you get the feeling that you are sitting on the ocean floor. The room is surrounded by nine large ocean tanks that give the room a highly distinctive atmosphere and contribute to a unique experience. The Rotunden room can seat up to 120 guests. In the Nøstet (boathouse) room, the atmosphere is pleasant and informal, as the name suggests. There you can enjoy a meal while admiring the panoramic view of the seal pond, and it is the perfect venue for functions for up to 90 guests. Bergen Aquarium is ideal for everything from corporate functions, receptions and outdoor barbecues to children’s Christmas parties and wedding receptions.

Our classical conference section with its five conference rooms is on the first floor. A new, modern conference section was built in autumn 2002, with the main emphasis on bright, Nordic colours and materials. A city with its feet in the sea, its head in the clouds and its heart in the right place – and full of infectious enthusiasm that the people of Bergen are more than happy to share with visitors. There are lots of things to do, whether you are interested in architecture and museums or in shopping and crowds. There is an abundance of art exhibitions and concerts, and even more shops. In Bergen, you can wander the streets and alleyways or take a walk through the Bryggen area among the old listed Hanseatic wharfside warehouses. The Fish Market tempts everyone with its delicacies – and if you tire of streets and houses, it is not far to unspoiled countryside. An eight-minute ride from the town centre on the Fløibanen Funicular or the Ulriken Cable Car will take you up to one of Bergen’s seven mountains where you can enjoy the views and the peace and quiet, far above the teeming city streets. In Bergen, City of Culture, there is always something to see and do, and the Neptun Hotel is within easy walking distance of most of what Bergen has to offer.
Den Nationale Scene Neptun & the theatre – a full evening’s entertainment! The Neptun Hotel has been one of the chief partners of the theatre, Den Nationale Scene (DNS), for many years. The hotel and the theatre were the first to launch a theatre weekend package – a tailor-made package that combines a hotel room with tickets to the theatre and, if you wish, can also include a delicious theatre menu at the Restaurant Lucullus or Pascal Mat & Vin. As a curiosity, all the Neptun’s rooms have their own names, and of course we have our own “theatre floor”, where all the rooms are named after actors or plays staged at DNS. So perhaps the next time you stay with us you would like to stay in the ”Lothar Lindtner” or ”Helge Jordal” room? For further information about the repertoire at DNS, click her.
Bergen Art Museum The Neptun Hotel has an extensive and much-admired art collection that hangs throughout the hotel. Among our 750 works of art are works by both Norwegian and international artists, mostly contemporary but also some classical works. The Neptun Hotel collaborates with Bergen Art Museum, which means that all our guests have free admission to the museum. Free tickets are available from the hotel’s reception desk. Bergen Art Museum, one of the biggest art museums in the Nordic countries, has some magnificent works of art on display in its three different buildings situated along the avenue beside the Lille Lungegårdsvann lake. The Rasmus Meyer Collection, halfway along the avenue, houses many masterpieces by Edvard Munch.
Pulsating Bergen Bergen is a pulsating city, with a lively scene both indoors and outdoors. Bergen is without a doubt Norway’s number one festival city, and no sooner are Bergen Music Fest, the Bergen International Festival and Night Jazz over in May than Summer Bergen starts up in June, with its floating stage in the harbour area, and perhaps a world famous name performing at Koengen. In the autumn there is the seafood festival, an incredible production of Peer Gynt at Den Nationale Scene, and fantastic concerts at the city’s many venues. And for those who like football, the unique atmosphere at Brann Stadium is a must. Bergen likes visitors. And Bergen is well worth a visit. The Neptun Hotel is ready to welcome guests from far and near – we extend a warm welcome to all visitors to Bergen, City of Culture.
