Our unique Bar-Bodega ‘De Blauwe Parade’ decorated with an original Delft Blue Tile fresco is not to be missed. Here we specialise in jenever (Dutch gin) & liquor tasting, as well as serving usual drinks and light meals. Depending upon what you need, we also have several multi-functional meeting rooms from 2 up to 50 persons.
G.A. Heineken started everything on this location when he opened his first Heineken brewery. Due to the city council filling in the canal in front in the name of modernisation, he moved to the present location on the Stadhouderskade. The Hulscher brothers continued the business and on 5th of September 1870 a unique beer house, called ‘Die Port van Cleve’ opened its doors. It was a popular place with professionals and artists. It did not take long to evolve from beer house to restaurant with the Brasserie ‘De Poort’, serving typical Dutch dishes and what was to become the famous numbered steak (to date almost 6 million served). A further development was from restaurant to hotel with the advent of the travelling salesmen. Over the years ‘Die Port van Cleve’ has undergone several internal structural changes, all of which have been for the better. One unchanged feature is the unique frontage, which has a listed building status, and also the unique interior of the Bar-Bodega ‘De Blauwe Parade’.
Superior Rooms & Suites: A haven of peace in a bustling city ‘Die Port van Cleve’ has 120 comfortable rooms. These are divided in 98 Superior Rooms, 16 Executive Rooms & 6 Suites. (2 Bridal suites with Jacuzzi, 3 Business suites and 1 luxurious Presidential Suite). The rooms have their own character and are decorated using warm welcoming colours. All rooms have a safety deposit box, Internet connection, Telephone with direct dial, TV with in-house movie- & message system and radio. The bathrooms are equipped with a bath/shower, toilet & hairdryer. The trouser press, mini-bar, coffee- & tea facilities are on request. ‘Die Port van Cleve’ has both smoking and non-smoking rooms. Room service is possible 24 hours a day.
