Description and facilities
Known as “The Ambassadors’ Palace” (Palazzo degli Ambasciatori) at the beginning of the XXth century because it was built to host diplomats of the nearby Embassies, the Ambasciatori Palace Hotel in Rome is a historical building overlooking via Veneto, one of the most renowned avenues in the world. Via Veneto crosses an ancient estate, transformed after it was bought and remodeled by  cardinal Prince Ludovico Ludovisi in the early XVIIth century into one of Rome’s most splendid and luxurious areas. Now one hundred years old ( more precisely, since 2005), the hotel was built between 1900 and 1905 on  plans drawn by the well-known  architect Carlo Busiri Vici. Between 1993 and 2001 it has undergone various careful restorations which have modernized the hotel, highlighting at the same time its period décor. The polychrome stucco-work of mouldings, ceilings, arches and capitals may now be seen in its original splendour, as well as the Brazilian granite columns, the marble and mosaic flooring, and the intricate wrought- iron railings of the grand staircase.

When you step out of the Ambasciatori into via Veneto another experience awaits you: this pulsating avenue, and its atmosphere, has inspired the famous Fellini film, La dolce vita, and is still nowadays very lively and enjoyable. Actors and writers, but also young people, couples and family groups are attracted to the avenue night and day, as it has something for everybody’s taste : elegants shops and boutiques, de luxe hotels, restaurants, music at the Hard Rock Cafè, or comfortable open-air sidewalk Cafés for coffee or a bite to eat.

An efficient and courteous service is offered throughout the guests’ stay. The Concierge Desk can easily arrange excursions and car hire; hairdressing, massage or sauna appointments; restaurant or theatre reservations; secreterial services, and see to the guests’ air or land travel arrangements. Money exchange and garage are available. The hotel has a gourmet Restaurant,  "La Terrazza", a Lounge Bar open at all times with live music in the evenings, and room service always available. Eleven meeting rooms are available: all are equipped with air conditioning, loudspeakers, screen, overhead projector and flip-chart, stationery. Also available on request: recording and videorecording using videocameras, videoconferences, simultaneous translations, closed-circuit Tv, modular platforms, hostesses, photographers and security guards.

The hotel has 151 rooms, including 11 Suites. All have been tastefully decorated and offer every comfort. Rooms are spacious and bright, with fine upholstery and curtains; a special touch is given by Venetian chandeliers, marble fireplaces and period pieces of furniture. Mantainance is continual. Most rooms are larger than the average in the same hotel class; many of them have parquet flooring, and bathrooms often have windows, large tubs and Jacuzzis. Every room is equipped with air–conditioning, closed-circuit Tv, Pc connection, radio, external telephone lines, minibar and safe.

Dining at "La Terrazza" , the hotel’s restaurant on the first floor, is truly a gourmet experience. As the name suggests, the small and elegant restaurant opens out onto a terrace overlooking via Veneto, which allows pleasant« al fresco » dining in season and offers always a lovely backdrop. La Terrazza restaurant, which became well-known in the Twenties, is highly rated by regular customers and patrons on a visit to Rome, and also draws an international clientele, as it serves both international fare and the best of traditional Italian cuisine at excellent standards. Chef Vanni dal Pan has trained with Europe’s leading chefs but is also an accomplished expert in Italian cuisine, especially the rich fare of his native Veneto.
The wine-cellar is stocked so as to meet the requirements of the most discerning palates. Guests are impeccably catered for from early morning to midnight, after which a night service is available. The Lounge Bar is open at all times; a wide choice of cocktails and long drinks can be prepared by the barman, while for a relaxed evening there soft live piano music until late. The high level of the Ambasciatori’s cuisine guarantees an excellent standard for formal dinners and working lunches, and for buffet occasions such as wedding receptions, or conventions and conferences.

The Conference Centre in the "Ambasciatori Palace" is one of the most renowed in Rome for business meetings, conferences, presentations, congresses. Umberto Martuscelli, General manager of the hotel for many years, has succeeded in obtaining for it a high quality standard, without interfering with the guests’ care and service.
