Opened in 1958, the original Hotel Berlin was a pioneer of the “Island of Freedom”, as West Berlin came to be known. It hosted world leaders and International celebrities and staged events that lit up both the Cold War and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Our new F&B concept, called "Sense & Season", cark that you are not only able to refuel mentally while having a conference but also to cosset you body and soul. The idea of "Sense & Season" was born by the slow food concept. That means on one hand that most of the ingredients are organical cultivated and on the other hand that our culinary food and beverage offers change seasonally. Strawberries and Asparagus are only available in May and June, cabbage only in autumn and so on. Our healthy and balanced food and beverages don't lushes or tires you. The first Manager of the Hotel Berlin, Mr. Julius Sauter, was a hotelier with a passion for fine food. Undoubtedly this was influenced by his homeland, the Baden region close to the French border. When he arrived at Hotel Berlin in 1958, he began to hire and inspire chefs, kitchen staff and waiters to prepare and serve sensational Baden-style cuisine to hotel guests. Over time, the Hotel gained a reputation as one of the finest dining venues in the city and in the 1960s it boasted the top grill restaurant in Berlin. Julius Sauter remained the hotel’s manager for 25 years and today his inspiration is alive in the heritage of the restaurant that proudly bears his name. So, when you dine under the stunning cupola ceiling of this stylish restaurant, from a menu that offers International, German and especially Baden dishes, you may feel the welcoming spirit of a very special person.
Our sumptuous buffet offers international favourites like smoked salmon, mueslis and fruits. The choice grows with the best of Berlin's local cold meats and cheeses. The cooked selection includes classic American grilled bacon and scrambled eggs, but also the opportunity to sample the city's favourite meatballs and sausages.
